Grandeur sinks us to apathy everyday we see helplessness in this country. If only we will realize that there are no million miles in a single step and there is no splendor in a single step of a million-mile journey, then we can stop aspiring for what is unachievable to cease the growing apathy among us. We must now stop thinking about the ideal country we cannot have but instead aspire for an ideal country midst the imperfections. Admit it, we are one of the world’s biggest joke, and we cannot remove the stigma overnight. We cannot achieve what is ideal, at least not in this lifetime. But we can set what needs to be done so that what we aspire for today will never deprived from those who will live tomorrow. We must be reminded what a UP student journalist has once written: kung ako, sino? Kung hindi ngayon, kailan?
